TOPIC: How to measure the size of the market?

How to measure the size of the market? #559

We are sticking with the theme of imports for the category HS #8518.

This week we publish the list of 20 largest Colombian companies #8518 in imports during the year 2015 category.

In this way, maybe we can break down if they are indeed better professional products that interest us?

At first glance, we see that the top 20 companies are responsible for half of imports to Colombia. Secondly, we see that the list is made up of renowned companies in the field.

However, even I do not understand the vast difference between Mexico and Colombia regarding imports of that category.

I tend to think that the gap between the two countries is given for a different classification of products rather than by a difference in size of the audiovisual market or "creativity" of some.

Your opinions are welcome.

How to measure the size of the market? #561

And will be the last post on this topic for the category HS #8518.

First annual imports of #8518 category in Latin America has the following behavior.

Brazil: US $ 320 million
Argentina: US $ 130 million
Colombia: US $ 105 million
Chile: US $ 84 million
Peru: US $ 55 million

So Mexico is projecting its imports US $ 1.400 million by year.

What is the reason?

Undoubtedly Mexico is a great engine of international trade, far bigger than Brazil. In the global context, Mexico represents the 2.31% of global exportsWhile Brazil has just 1.16% of global exports.

In this context, one is not surprised that Mexico also have large exports of #8518, in this case worth US $ 1.800 million.

One follows then that net exports are the order of US $ 400 million. What makes more sense ??

I still have my doubts.

TELL ME MORE NO!

It turns out that Mexico has not only imports of US $ 1.400 million, but has exports of US $ 1.800 million? by a difference of US $ 400 in net exports in sound equipment and microphones?

There is something super wrong with the numbers.
